An area of intense heavy snow and thunderstorms is forming near Wilmington, DE now. This area will be spreading up the 295/I-95 corridor towards Philadelphia within the next 100 minutes ...moving up the NJ Turnpike into central NJ ....and then reaching the metro NYC area by 7:30pm. Thundersnow can be dangerous -if you hear thunder, head indoors for shelter! Lightning can kill regardless of the season. This band of heavy snow will drop visibilities quickly, with significant accumulations possible in a short period of time --especially from northwest Burlington County (NJ) northeastward, where surface temperatures are cooler. It appears the I-95 corridor will be the scene tonight where heavy snow bands form and move into the NYC/New England region, dumping heavy snow there.
